Pelech believes that education is an interactive experience. The normative teaching methods of textual study, followed by summary, revision and periodical testing are considered "dry" and "un-engaging" forms of learning.
At Pelech, study is open, interactive and completely interdisciplinary.
The study of all subjects is undertaken with an appreciation of the art and history of the same period, to provide the girls with a broad and all-encompassing understanding of each topic.
Lessons are text-based, but questioning and tangential curiosity often open up new perspectives on familiar material. Subjects are studied and critiqued in multiple directions, giving a richer and deeper appreciation of the subject matter.
Finally, each girl is expected to produce a personal interpretation of her favourite topic via another medium such as plastic arts, dance, song, poetry, prose, etc.
This is the essence of Pelech.
This is the beauty of truly meaningful and life-changing education.
