Familial Dysautonomia (FD) is an incurable, genetic disease that afflicts Jews of Eastern European (Ashkenazi) descent and affects the autonomous, sensory, and motor nervous systems, causing malfunctions in bodily functions.

The IFDO is a parental volunteer organization. The complex daily treatment of a child, teenager and adult with FD and frequent hospitalizations place a great emotional, physical and financial burden on their families.
