WePower is an Israeli, non-partisan, non-profit organization that boosts women’s participation and engagement in civic activism and in the political arena at the local, regional, and national levels. Since 2000, WePower has been promoting equal representation and enhancing gender equality by 1) Locating potential women leaders and encouraging them to pursue representative and leadership roles; 2)Training women for leadership roles and providing them with the necessary tools, support, know-how and a networking platform with hundreds of women activists throughout Israel; 3) Advocating for gender-conscious legislation and for the long-term commitment of government to ensure leadership equality; 4) Raising Public Awareness towards the importance and benefits of narrowing the gender gap.
Notable achievements WePower:
+ Since 2017, Wepower has been serving as an advisory body to the UN on gender equality.
Promoted three bills on gender representation and equality in Israel +
six alumni of WePower serve in the 25th Knesset as Knesset members (20% of Knesset women). +
+ Twenty alumni of WePower ran for mayoral positions in the 2018 municipal elections (25% of women at mayoral position).
+ Establishment of a national training system for the advancement of women in public and political positions.
