Tene Briut's main activities include:
• Educational presentations to the Ethiopian-Israeli community in Amharic to spread awareness of a health promoting lifestyle and an understanding of diabetes and other “lifestyle” chronic diseases.
• Kol Labriut medical interpreting service over the phone. The service currently receives over 300 calls each month from health workers and social workers working with Amharic speaking patients.
• A fortnightly radio program in Amharic on health matters relevant to the community, broadcast by the Voice of Israel, listened to by over 80% (60,000) of the adult Ethiopian community.
• A program of supportive home visits to elderly patients with unstable diabetes by trained, Amharic speaking health leaders.
• Nutrition and Cookery Workshops for women, to create awareness of the connection between good nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and diabetes prevention.
• Advocacy activities through public and professional forums.
