Beinechem Uveinehem has existed since the first week of the War of Iron Swords, when it became especially clear that among displaced people in need of social support, there are many who are “invisible” to social services. Our clients are elderly, people with disabilities and parents of children with special needs, evacuated to Jerusalem. By the fall of 2024, we have helped more than 2,000 people, and we have about 300 regular clients.
Our typical client is a displaced person, who has a range of social or medical issues that significantly lower their quality of life, their ability to adapt, and their self-care capacity. However, there is no one severe enough issue to receive fast and comprehensive government support. Most of them also lack sufficient information about their rights and the state or private resources that could help them overcome their crisis.
We believe that vulnerable people should not be left alone to face government and medical bureaucracy, nor to deal with their suffering by themselves. This is precisely the meaning of our name: "Between You and Them."
