About

We strive to promote the civil, collective and national rights of the Arab community of Haifa; ensure the equitable provision of our social welfare needs; build a strong and cohesive community; and create a socially aware and active civil society. The Social Development Committee of Haifa addresses the complex challenges facing the Palestinian community of Haifa through an integrated approach, complementing a diverse array of social activism and community empowerment initiatives with a mutually reinforcing program of rights education and legal advocacy. Importantly, we work to consolidate the voices of our community in order to leverage our impact at the city-level. We envision a society where Palestinian citizens of Israel are treated both equally and fairly; where our identity as a legal, religious, social and linguistic minority is recognized, protected and celebrated; and where our natural ties to a wider Arab community and culture are not suppressed or suspected, but valued.
