Hakshiva

Hakshiva works with Girls at Risk in Kiryat Sefer, giving them a listening ear, encouragement and life skills so that they can find their way out of difficult emotional situations and life circumstances. After seeing those close to him going off the derech, Rabbi Philip decided to reach out and help kids at risk. He published a notice offering aid to parents who were having difficulty with their children. In response he received many requests from parents and thus Hakshiva, kiryat Sefer was born. 16 years later, and hundreds of teens have passed through our doors. BH, we have a very high success rate. Most of the teens who finish our program go on to build solid Jewish homes. Our success comes from a finely tuned balance between acceptance and guidance. We meet the teens where they are holding right now, and then show them a vision of themselves in the future. The teens feel supposed and are greatly relieved to be able to let us into their lives so they can unburden themselves of their problems. At Hakshiva they enjoy activities run by our very experienced, hand-picked madrichot and meet with like-minded teens where they have a sense of belonging. The support continues through the week by phone or in person. Known as the address for struggling teens and their parents for when teens are testing the waters or have fallen in too deep.
