About

Keren Mishpahot HaMoshava (Keren Kamah) provides food on a regular basis to needy families of Zichron Ya'akov, as well as funds for educational and medical expenses that would otherwise be unmet. Keren Kamah is a tzedakah initiative created and managed by the national religious community of Zichron Ya'akov. Based on the Torah teaching that charity begins at home, Keren KeMaH raises money to provide direct assistance to needy families in Zichron Ya'akov. The municipal welfare department determines the needs of the families; based on this direction, Keren KeMaH provides food on a weekly basis to families who otherwise would not be able to adequately feed their children. In order to maintain the recipients' dignity, Keren Kamah provides the families with a line of credit at a local supermarket, allowing them to discretely select the food items that best suit their needs. In addition, Keren KeMaH assists with funds for medical treatments that are not covered by the health services as well as provision of school supplies and textbooks for children in need.
