Chaiyanu is an organization in Israel servicing over 600 families who have a child battling for their lives against cancer. Our mission is to impact every family on a day to day basis providing them with the support they so desperately need.
Chaiyanu\Chai Lifeline Israel opened its doors in 1999 with the mission to establish a holistic approach of programs and projects to Israel’s seriously ill children and their families. The agency has developed and implemented programs to fit the unique needs of Israeli children and families. Chaiyanu’s professional case managers worked within Israel’s hospital system to provide immediate support and assistance that enabled families to continue to function. Chaiyanu addresses the full spectrum of needs. From logistical to social, recreational to psychological and financial, our network of free programs and services are always available. Our therapists provided therapy for patients, parents, and siblings to help them adjust to the new realities of their lives. Helping families cope with the trauma of a child with a life threatening illness is our primary goal. The most critical service we can offer our families is "Home and Hospital visits". Highly qualified volunteers are at home with the family to stabilize the tsunami that the family is going through and creating a close bond with the sick child as well as with his or her siblings. Their mission is total dedication for the family to be there as needed and give physical and emotional support. Becoming an integral part of the family, at times as close as family members themselves, the volunteers lend a loving hand and a listening ear whenever needed. Our volunteer program is not only geared for the children, but also embraces the parents, providing them with the very specific types of support they need. Through hospital visits, Chaiyanu volunteers work together with the hospital staff, offering whatever needs to be done, and assisting the parents with any request they can provide, whether it be respite care, taking over so the parents can tend to other responsibilities, or to just be there for the child to entertain, play and bring joy and light to a dark place. All our volunteers are screened and trained by Chaiyanu, and they know best how to offer support, comfort and practical assistance to patients and all the family members.
