Shutaf is a Jerusalem-based, informal-education program for children and teens with special needs using a unique inclusion-based model. Shutaf creates a special place of acceptance, learning, social values and fun.
Shutaf is an innovative and new kind of inclusion program. Our informal-education method mixes children of all ages and all backgrounds - social, religious, educational and financial - with their typical peers (75% special needs and 25% typical). Our teen training program also combines teens with special needs alongside their typically peers. Camp offers social opportunities within a supportive, calm and enjoyable atmosphere. Shutaf’s target population of children and teens with special needs is underserved by government agencies and local social services – they lack traditional developmental labels. Shutaf families struggle financially, emotionally and socially, coping with job loss, poverty and family dysfunction in addition to disability. Shutaf has created and developed a quality, informal-educational approach, with professional planning methods that mean quality experiences for every child and teen.
