About

The Center provides information, counselling and direction for those with emotional or behavioral difficulties, with the aim of finding the most appropriate therapist and therapeutic treatment available. At the same time is follow-up management and Yaad Centre – The Center for Psychological Counselling and Direction The Center provides information, counselling and direction for those with emotional or behavioral difficulties, with the aim of finding the most appropriate therapist and therapeutic treatment available. At the same time is follow-up management and feedback, with an emphasis on direct results. From the age of childhood, puberty, and young adolescence, many experience difficulties in different areas of emotional or mental health. Many of the difficulties are those that normal people experience for different reasons, while others provide the first signs of mental illness. In these cases, early detection can often prevent the deterioration of the illness, and can sometimes save lives. Even when there is awareness of the issue, and a readiness to receive therapeutic help, many encounter difficulties finding the therapeutic method, path, and therapist most suitable for them. The absence of knowledge thus endangers the opportunity for change. Today there are many different treatment methods available, some of which are better suited to particular problems. The average person is not familiar with the gaps between the different approaches, which differ essentially both in modes of treatment; (e.g. various forms of dynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR treatment, hypnosis, parent training etc), the time span required for treatment (short term versus long term therapy), and the structure and progress of the therapy. The ideational backgrounds for these varying practices stem from different philosophical beliefs which influence the progress of therapy, and the information is meaningful for individuals who identify with different world-views. An additional problem is that there is currently no organized system for assessing the efficiency of treatment, and the extent to which it has accomplished its goals. The center for counselling and direction provides information about different problem types and the most appropriate treatment methods. It also maps which therapists can be found in which area; (initially in Jerusalem and its environs), their area of specialization, treatment methods, level of expertise, characteristics, availability and accessibility, cost, the feedback from patients, and more. The process is accompanied by a follow-up questionnaire to ensure that the referred problem is indeed treated well. All this takes place through dialogue between the center's experts and the individual asking for help. Our work: The parameters for the success of therapy include the treatment method; the experience of the therapist in the treatment of a given problem, and the interpersonal relationship between the therapist and the patient. In a joint meeting with the patient seeking treatment, we present the available treatments for the presenting difficulty, and in addition, define the variables that can help the success of the treatment. In the light of that information, we can help find the most appropriate therapist or psychiatrist. We believe that precise information about suitable care-workers, using the correct methods, can 'save' many people, and help them to attain the goal (yaad), they have set themselves. It may also prevent considerable discomfort. We hope that the center will revolutionize the way in which individuals choose their therapists, and will help those in need, together with their families, to discover a solution to their struggle.
