yevulim farm

The Foundation develops innovative curricula for learning and employment for individuals with disabilities in the area of ecologic sustainability. The Farm is an ecologic compound that allows a person working in it to be close to nature and express h In an era of rampant technological advancement, where orchards have become buildings and shopping malls places of entertainment, it becomes all the more important that each individual, wherever he lives, still has direct contact with nature. It is our belief that the dialogue that takes place between man and nature contributes to strengthening the welfare of human beings physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our fundamental assumption is that each individual has the right to choose to study, to develop himself, to create, and to improve the quality of his life. Society has a responsibility and an obligation to provide equality of opportunity in this sphere. During the last few years we have developed curricula for learning and employment for individuals with disabilities above the age of 21. In these curricula an emphasis has been placed on personal empowerment, and exercises in developing proficiency in the activities of daily living, good work habits, and social skills. The Farm currently conducts a year-long ecology course and a social business “Yevulin Hosts”. The latter brings together individuals with and without disabilities for the purpose of increasing income, changing preconceptions, and spreading knowledge about ecology and a healthy, sustainable life-style. In September, 2015 we will be inaugurating a unique program in cooperation with the Ministry of Welfare and The Amichai Foundation---a vocational college offering full-time studies toward employment in the free market.
