To further archaeological research in Israel, through the consolidation of links between this profession and the general public. The work of the institute is two-fold, consisting of social projects and community projects.

SOCIAL PROJECTS. This is the first area in which we wish to act. The leading project of the institute is training former prisoners in the field of conservation and restoration of antiquities. This project was designed by the Israeli Institute of Archaeology together with the Non-Profit organization ''Good Spirit'', presided by Mr. Nachman Shay, and its main goal is to conserve and restore ancient religious sites in Israel, with an emphasis on Jewish Holy Places. COMMUNITY PROJECTS. (a) organizing workshops, summer-camps and courses of archaeology (b) giving lectures in Community Centers (Matnas). (c) the inclusion of volunteers in ''practice-excavations''.
