The Synagogue - Torah classes and kiruv thoughout Israel
In our Institutes, the Ateret Yisrael synagogue holds daily
prayer services and weekly classes. In addition, the
Rebbe, Shlita, travels to weekly spiritural gatherings, so he
can meet with Jewish people all over the country and offer
his special guidance. The synagogue also organizes trips
to the Tombs of the Righteous in order to provide
opportunities for special prayer gatherings.
There are those who acquire their share in the
World to Come in a single moment.
"The Or Yisrael Gemach”
Founded approximately four years ago with the
guidance of our esteemed Rebbe and Teacher, the Or
Yisrael Gemach is the Institutes’ response to hundreds
of requests from local families in need of food for
Shabbat each week.
The Berditchev Institutes of Rehovot distributes weekly
food baskets to families in need throughout the year,
providing them with nourishing meals on a regular
basis and allowing them to live a more dignified life.
In the weeks leading up to the major holiday seasons
(Tishrei and Pesach), we receive far more requests for
aid than usual. In order to meet this demand, we
organize massive food distribution operations at those
times, enabling us to assist as many families as
possible. The Gemach provides many families with the
means to celebrate
the holidays without
worrying about financial hardship.
Among the beneficiaries of the Gemach are many
elderly people who struggle with both poverty and the
emotional distress of loneliness. Many of these elderly
beneficiaries are Holocaust survivors with no family,
for whom the connection with our volunteers and food
assistance we provide are a true lifeline. Other
beneficiaries are large families whose fathers devote
themselves to learning Torah day and night. When
they receive a basket from our volunteers, they feel
supported by the community both physically and
emotionally, thus granting them the peace of mind to
devote themselves fully to their time in the halls of
learning.
