The Volunteer Association, representing all foster families in Israel and consisting of both current and former foster families, provides a mutual internal support network for the families and works towards changing the foster care practices in Israe
The association was founded in December 2018 by current and former foster parents, is managed by volunteers, and is the only association representing foster families in Israel. Foster families raise children who have been removed from their homes by welfare authorities due to neglect, abuse, and parental incapacity. These children have experienced extremely difficult situations in their short lives, affecting all aspects of their daily lives. Foster families volunteer to provide a home for these children—often for the first time in their lives. They attend to all the children's needs—both physical and emotional—allowing them to grow up in a stable and nurturing home while facing many challenges. The association's objectives: • Represent all foster families, provide responses to their unique needs, and ensure their rights. • Establish the status of foster parents as significant and recognized participants in foster care processes. • Promote the implementation and improvement of the Foster Care Law and its regulations. • Advance public discourse on all matters related to foster families. • Build a community of foster families that support each other and experts who assist them."
