The mission of the National Council for the Child is to promote the well-being of all Israeli children, from birth to age18, through the initiation and implementation of innovative programs, research, outreach programs and information campaigns.
The National Council for the Child (NCC), active since 1980, stands as Israel's foremost advocate for all children's rights and well-being. The NCC operates on several complementary fronts as it seeks change in legislation, policy, and practice. We involve ourselves with every aspect of the child’s life - at home, in the family, at school and in the community. We serve all children and youth in Israel, from birth to age 18, from all sectors of the Israeli population. Our non-discriminatory policy applies to our staff, Board of Directors and volunteers as well. We attack issues from all angles - changes in legislation and policy, education, comprehensive research and individual intervention. Our multi-disciplinary staff, Board of Directors and our many volunteers offer a wide range of expertise. As an independent NGO, we do not accept government funding in order to retain the independence, objectivity and freedom to act in the defense of children under all circumstances.
