The organi SHORT REVIEW OF BEIT HATAVSHIL’S ACTIVITIES “Romem Keren David” charitable organization was established 38 years ago in order to help the underprivileged population suffering either economic, physical, mental or social distress. The organization endeavors to rehabilitate and help the unfortunate in all areas of life by means of varied humanitarian activities, the main goal being that “no one should ever starve.” For that purpose “Beit HaTavshil” was set up with a central kitchen on 53 Rabbi Akiva St., where 1400 hot nourishing meals of the highest quality are prepared day by day. The meals are distributed and provided to dining halls at the following locations: Bnei-Brak - 53 Rabbi Akiva St. where some 300 people eat dinners. Ra’anana - 186 Achuza St. where 100 people eat dinner. The beneficiaries of Beit-HaTavshil are the lonely, invalids, old and new immigrants as well as other poor ones. They are charged 1 shekel each per meal, in order to allow them the feeling of having paid for the food. The very meeting during eating serves as an experience that alleviates their loneliness and facilitates their rehabilitation and integration into society. We hold social events such as lectures, community singing and an orchestra to gladden their broken hearts. Oneg Shabbath and festive parties are held on Shabbath and Jewish festivals. From time to time we organize trips, a blessed activity that contributes tremendously to their rehabilitation. Home Deliveries More than 1,000 meals are delivered daily to houses in Bnei-Brak, Tel-Aviv, Ra’anana, Kfar Saba, Ashdod and Emanuel in the Samaria region. They are supplied to the invalids, the aged and the forsaken, to new immigrants upon their first steps in Israel, and to homes whose mothers cannot take care of their households since they are ill, bedridden or after childbirth. Beit-HaTavshi keeps in close contact with local relief bureaus; trustworthy social workers locate the needy and determine their eligibility for Beit-HaTavshil’s services, speaking on behalf of people deprived. The hot nutritious meals that are delivered to the houses are prepared and packed in the most decent manner. They are mostly given for free or at a token price which is fixed according to the family income. We are in daily contact with those families who tell us their sorrows and problems which we endeavor to solve. It is worth noting that for some of the poverty-stricken, the contact with the volunteers of Beit HaTavshil is the only connection they have with the outside world. The staff of volunteers has acquired ample experience and knowledge which contribute tremendously to their rehabilitation. Every two weeks Beit-HaTavshil sends all the basic food products to large families in financial distress and to widows who can function and cook by themselves. The public Seder nights held for thousands of people from all over Israel as well as for new immigrants have awarded Beit-HaTavshil a widereputation. In addition, thousands of families throughout the country receive from us basic foodstuffs for Passover. This is a philanthropic enterprise of enormous national scope which has no equal, its budget nearing four million dollars. Naturally, most of its income is based on public contributions. Recently the management of Beit-HaTavshil has decided to refurbish the dining hall and purchase new equipment for the central kitchen. This has become imperative in order to preserve the quality and freshness of food and improve the conditions of the dining hall so as to afford the needy a pleasant atmosphere and convenient environment. The development budget stands at Two million dollars dollars. This is a huge sum which Beit-HaTavshil has undertaken on top of the heavy burden of current expenditures. We are in dire need of your help! We would like to offer you to participate in a tremendous benevolent act, which fruits a person en
