Nefesh Achat B'Yisrael assists pregnant women throughout Israel who are experiencing a pregnancy complicated by emotional, medical and \or financial stress that often accompany an unaticipated ot medically at risk pregnancy.
NAB is a voluntary, non-profit, non-political organization that was founded in Jerusalem by a group community leaders, Rabbis, physicians and social workers both in New York and in Jerusalem. The organization, based in Jerusalem,provides support services to pregnant women in crisis throughout the Israel. A referral network of more than 300 social workers, public health nurses and community workers has been developed. These local professionals genuinely understand the plight of the women they refer. The vast majority of women who are referred cope on a daily basis with the lack of a natural support system and the effects of poverty. an additional pregnancy is often met with ambivalence and deep concern for the future. Most families have at least one member who is working, yet that income is insufficient to meet even basic needs. Based on this reality the professional staff of NAB provides an support system and financial support for more than 1000 families annually.
