The Institute's research projects, most of which turn into full-length sefarim, are received with great admiration and esteem by rabbis, Torah scholars, figures in government and the security establishment, educators and various other public figures.
Since 1993, the Hebron Rabbinical Research Institute, or "the Machon", headed by Rabbi Yitzchak Rodrig, shelita, its founder, has been operating in the City of the Patriarchs, Kiryat Arba-Hebron, mere walking-distance from the Tomb of the Patriarchs. From the start, Rabbi Rodrig had two visions: 1. To bring together stellar Torah scholars – town rabbis, rabbinical court judges and noted spiritual figures, and to employ them to produce high level research on modern issues affecting Israel. 2. To create a center for study and prayer that can strengthen both Kiryat Arba-Hebron and Judea and Samaria. * Fulfillment The rabbinical researchers employed by the Machon have produced dozens of works that have won the Machon praise in both religious and secular society. The Institute has been the recipient of both the Aminach Prize, as well as the Agrest Prize from the Education Ministry’s Culture Department. All of the work is listed and described, in Hebrew, in our Machon's Internet site: www.rabanim.org. In our beit midrash we presently employ about fifteen rabbinic researchers and rabbinic court justices from the local towns and area in high level halachic research. Recently we have also been privileged to establish, besides a large daf yomi group, three Torah learning frameworks, a morning beit midrash for laymen, women's shiurim one evening per month, and an afternoon beit midrash for laymen interested in taking advantage of that time to learn Torah. Creation of an Edifice for Study and Prayer In recent years we have been privileged to construct a three-story edifice to serve both the Torah research in our area as well as serving as a synagogue for the burgeoning Meduragim [Terraces] Neighborhood rising up around the Machon.
