Our Sanctuary is a registered non-profit organization, which for the past two decades, has adopted hundreds of monkeys which have either been "retired" from research laboratories or have been rescued from the illegal pet trade. Our Sanctuary is a registered non-profit organization, which for the past two decades, has adopted hundreds of monkeys which have either been "retired" from research laboratories or have been rescued from the illegal pet trade. The monkeys who arrive at the Sanctuary have endured traumas of many kinds. Beyond the physical trauma clearly experienced by the research monkeys, all of the monkeys at the Sanctuary have been victims of some form of abuse or neglect. Many were abducted from their mothers and family groups at a very early age and have grown up in isolation in inadequately-sized cages or pens without appropriate nutrition or medical care.
