EWB promotes the quality of life of the Israeli population, and developing countries around the world. TLV branch has been operating in Tanzania, in an attempt to influence thousands of residents and provide them with electricity and potable water.
For us water is a trivial thing. We do not recognize any other state of true lack, of something so basic to us. When we feel thirsty, we know we can find our water source in just a few minutes, and in contrast, in Tanzania, the story is completely different. EWB is an organization that is completely operated by volunteers who are also students who are very motivated to create an impact in the world. We believe that real and sustainable change is possible through working together with the community rather than with it and without its involvement. Therefore, we are working to raise awareness of the importance of drinking clean water and the participation of residents in building and maintaining the systems. In this region of Tanzania, the drinking water is saturated with exceptionally high amounts of fluoride. Fluoride in drinking water causes, severe developmental problems, especially in children, which are expressed in skeletal deformities, cleft lip, and other dental problems. Therefore, we developed a system consisting of local products and located in the central high school in the district, striving to replicate it throughout the region. In addition, we have established a solar installation at the regional clinic, which provides a response to thousands of residents of the district.
