Sunrise Israel

Sunrise Day Camp - Israel is the only free of charge summer day camp in Israel for children with cancer and their siblings. The camp makes it possible for these children to enjoy a summer full of excitement, fun and friendships. Approximately 550 children are diagnosed with new cases of pediatric cancer every year in Israel. There are many extraordinary organizations throughout Israel which offer activities and respite for both children and their families who are dealing with cancer and other serious illnesses. But almost all of these programs are week-long overnight programs, and many take place overseas. There are, however, children who cannot or will not travel – who need the comfort and safety that sleeping in their own beds provide, along with the security of being treated in their home, in their hospitals, and by the doctors they have come to know and trust. Furthermore, there are parents who cannot bring themselves to allow their sick child to be away from them. It is our belief that offering a social framework for children with cancer which is geared towards the population of children who cannot or do not wish to participate in overnight programs, is not a luxury, but an integral component of these children's health and well-being.
