Tamar Center is working towards a future where Arab-Bedouin youth from the Negev ignite change from a position of choice, knowledge, belonging, and desire.
Tamar Center was founded in 2015 by a group of Bedouin educators and community leaders from a cross-section of Bedouin society. Tamar was established in recognition of the complicated reality and out of a sincere desire and commitment to instilling lasting positive change through flexibility and actively listening to society. Promoting excellence, regionalism, cooperation, creating opportunities, initiative and personal responsibility are the basis of the center's worldview and all its programs and ventures are made in accordance with them. Tamar has established and operates a number of educational programs throughout the Negev targeting both high school students and high school graduates. The success of the various programs lies in the productive collaborations with schools and students’ parents alongside collaborations with government ministries, local authorities, civic organizations, businesses, as well as philanthropic foundations in Israel and the world over. Tamar Center creates opportunities for Arab-Bedouin youth by strengthening of their sense of self-efficacy, and promoting academic excellence as well as personal responsibility, for a better common future for the Negev and the State.
