Promotion and Preservation of Sport Fishing in Israel .We promote sustainable sport fishing, protect the sea and its fish Through education and awareness, we foster a culture of responsible and enjoyable fishing for everyone
Fishing as a Way of Life Fishing is more than a pastime – it is a way of life that connects people to the sea, embracing the principle of taking little while preserving much. Through responsible, educational, and sustainable fishing, it provides nourishment and joy. Fishing also reduces the global carbon footprint by enabling people to obtain protein independently and cleanly. It is an ancient, healthy, and calming human activity, deeply rooted in our cultural heritage, and serves as a vital refuge for diverse communities in a densely populated country. Our Mission The Association represents the community of recreational fishers in all its forms – rod and shore anglers, boat fishers, and freediving spearfishermen – on regulatory, legal, scientific, planning, and other issues with the Israeli authorities. To achieve this, we engage professionals in relevant fields to address the needs of the recreational fishing community. We gather resources to educate the wider Israeli public about the enjoyment of responsible and ecological fishing, while encouraging more people to join our ranks. In this way, we safeguard the place of fishing – for ourselves and for future generations – through sustainable practices. Public Contribution of Recreational Fishing Recreational fishing contributes significantly to society. Recreational fishers are individuals who cherish nature, the sea, and their fellow human beings, maintaining a year-round presence along coastlines and on the water. This constant presence provides an additional and meaningful layer of public safety, as fishers often assist in life-threatening situations such as rip-current drifts, surfing accidents, or cases of missing persons at sea. They not only provide immediate aid but also ensure swift communication with emergency services. Quite simply, having fishers at sea makes everyone safer. Community, Education, and Rehabilitation The Association is dedicated to preserving, strengthening, and expanding a values-driven community of fishers engaged in protecting the sea and educating the next generation in responsible and caring fishing. With years of hands-on experience and constant presence in the water, we believe no one knows the sea – in calm or storm – as well as we do. We will recruit new members from diverse backgrounds and instill a culture of responsible fishing through both practice and theory. Beyond recreation, fishing serves as a therapeutic tool for rehabilitation, offering balance, tranquility, and healing. The Association will develop programs to support people coping with PTSD, disabilities popolations individual with mental health challenges, at-risk youth and rehabilitated prisoners – helping them find restoration through the quiet order of fishing, which is balancing, liberating, restorative, and yes – delicious. Collaboration and Rights The association promotes respectful collaboration with all fishing organizations – recreational and professional alike – with the understanding that fishers are one community, united in purpose. We are committed to upholding the right to recreational fishing, opposing the closure of beaches and marine areas to fishers, and working to expand access for all. This includes the establishment of boat-launching points, removal of barriers, and improvement of access routes to the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Sea of Galilee.
