Festival Beshekel

To advance culture, arts and social leadership in Israel's geographic and social-economic periphery. We aim at extending the social spheres of culture consumption, empowering the local communities and creating a dialogue between polarized sectors Festival Beshekel is endemic in its field, no other organization in Israel empower marginalized communities using arts and culture as a vehicle. We do so through in-depth work with the youth and young adults of the local community. In each community where we work, we implement a one year project structured into two tracks: Cultural Leaders track- a workshop in the fields of leadership, cultural production and social entrepreneurship. Artistic Enrichment track- in various fields of arts - music, street theatre and dance. The festival is a grand finale of a yearlong program. It is a colorful outdoor arts festival which is planned and produced in close cooperation with the local community and caters to its needs. The festival includes performances by local talents who were nurtured in the organization's artistic enrichment program alongside well-known artists. The event is produced by the cultural leaders' team alongside Festival Beshekel's professional producers.
