About the Our Brothers Project 23,741 is the number of fallen soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces. Each of the fallen left behind families to live on with the bottomless void and pain of loss. There are tens of thousands of bereaved siblings who lost their brothers and sisters, trying to find their way in life without their fallen sibling. The “Our Brothers” project was born in 2017 in order to create a peer community and support system for bereaved brothers and sisters. It provides a platform for them to tell and preserve their stories of the fallen. These meetings provide healing for the siblings and unite citizens of Israel, giving one another hope and faith. The Our Brothers Community In the last three years “Our Brothers” have participated in over 1,000 meet-ups where brothers and sisters told their personal stories to over 70,000 people. These meetings receive public support and take place in different public and private venues. There are also ongoing community events for “Our Brothers” that are vital for the brothers and sisters, including providing professional guidance in various parts of life. The project has received vast media coverage, huge social media exposure and many exciting collaborations. With the help of leading PR firms, top media, academia and business influencers we have built a website and Facebook page that have been visited by millions of internet users. We have created a large volume of content in Hebrew and English including online series and campaigns to raise awareness about bereaved brothers and sisters. Our Goals Our goals for 2020 are many: to double the number of meet-ups in Israel and abroad; we dream of giving the community a week long journey together; to create digital albums and websites commemorating the fallen including films of siblings telling their personal stories; to build and expand the community of professional mentors that support bereaved siblings; to further development and upgrade the project’s website, expanding content and translation. The “Our Brothers” is volunteer based and is headed by Elyasaf Peretz, brother of the late Uriel and Eliraz, Tal Schribman sister of the late Nir, Riki Marsha sister of the late Gadi, Noy Perry sister of the late Iftach and Amir Klegnel brother of the late Yochai (Jocha).
